Thanks Glo for putting this on here. Such a sad/happy day.
Thanks Glo, he wasn't real sure but he did it! No more babies!
Vicky
Here is my blow-by-blow of the fledge - 6:41 a.m. He is at the launching pad. Been moving his wings a little bit, trying to get up the courage. Just back over to 9 o'clock and did a little poop shoot and then back to the lauching pad. Lightened that load a little bit! Oh my God, he just spread his wings out, he has the look. Nope, folded them back in! Doing a lot of flapping all over the nest. Back at the launching pad, looking around. Just moved a little closer to the edge. He wants to really bad! He is so close to the edge, his head gets out of camera range sometimes. He keeps spreading his wings out like he is going to and then back in. It is 6:50 now. A little head bopping going on. Camera freezing up a little bit. Wings back out. Now back in but head still bobbing. My heart is racing. Head keeps going out of view. 6:56 a.m. Wings back out. 6:58 a.m. SPUNKY HAS FLEDGED!!!
Yes, thanks for the wonderful video of "our" baby eagle taking it's first flight. What a wonderful sight. Getting to watch these birds come into the world and grow and thrive like they have has been so enjoyable. Thanks to you and the others for sharing your videos with the rest of us
I think I'm going to cry....... I will sure miss little Spunky..hatched on my birthday!
Happy Birthday Sandy and Happy Fledge Day, Spunky and Happy Flag Day, everybody!!
Great clip, Glo, and maybe the best...you could see him getting his wings and flight feathers ready, his tail ready, checking the wind with his head, and the whole operation.
Really rewarding to see him go at last.
Thanks to you gals for all the dedication to the Bald Eagle Watch Brigade.
Thanks for posting the video, Glo. Awesome to see our little friend take flight!
Great job, Glo! I just sent that to several people who have listened to me go on and on about the eaglets...
Thanks Glo, I have been watching these Eagles from work since they were just little small grey things. Someone sent me the site in an e-mail. I have enjoyed them so much. I wish there was some way we could see where they go and how they do, but that's mother nature. I just hope that I can remember to check in next year. Do you all have any other site to watch babies? I love Eagles. I am from WV and have only saw one Eagle in flight on a vacation in Wyoming! I will never forget the beautiful site! Thanks for sharing Spunky's fledge.
Spunky's song
June 13, the song went like this...
Where is Spunky, where is Spunky?
Here I am, Here I am
Hidin' round the trunk of the tree
See if you can find me
Eaglet Moms, Eaglet Moms
(Gotta have tree at the end, rhymes w/ me)

Spunky’s New Tune – Revised June 14, 2006
Where is Spunky, Where is Spunky,
In the air, In the air
Soaring like an eagle
Oh however graceful
See me fly, In the sky

Can't remember the date I had visited here but loved it so much sent it to sister-in-law; she too had been watching the NCTC Eagles. I got on the phone to help her with the email I sent and got her to click to see the videos. She felt like she was there thank you so so much.
